The Smokin’ Joe Scholarship Fund

was created in 2002
by Canadian Calf Roper Joe
Lucas.

The first two scholarships were given away to two ropers at

3rd Annual Joe Lucas & Friends Junior Roping Clinic.

An eight year old and at twelve year old were each awarded $1000 to
further  their education in any field of their choice - whether it is to learn to shoe a horse
or pay the fees at a roping or rough stock  school.
The fund was created to help kids live their dream of becoming a professional roper or rider,
or in any other field that preserves our Western Heritage.
A complete list of rules are available upon request.

The Goal of the Smokin’ Joe Scholarship Trust Fund
is to provide bursaries, grants and financial assistance
for deserving youth to pursue post secondary education in fields related to
agriculture, animal care, and towards the preservation of our Western Heritage.
It is intended that any course of study at the post secondary level will be approved.
This would include courses at University or Community Colleges and could other courses
offered by other groups, apprenticeships or on the job training.
The Trustees through competition skills in the relevant fields
will choose successful candidates.
